How to Be A Fashionable Hostess this Thanksgiving

Being the host of a large holiday dinner can be stressful at times, but it can also be very rewarding and fun. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to seat so many people, how you’re going to decorate the table, and of course, what food you’re going to serve.

First, you must pick your color scheme. Are you craving warm fall tones like orange, beige, rustic brown, or natural green? With this color scheme you could use your left over pumpkins from Halloween as decorative pieces. Orange napkins and gold-detailed silverware will go perfectly with your delicious pumpkin pie.

For the centerpiece, all you need is a simple design. After all, everyone will be too focused on the food to even notice, right? Think about nature as your inspiration. Use fake greens, pine cones, leaves, and/or fruit to design your own beautiful creation.

Perhaps rustic orange, burnt brown, and beige are too simple for your taste. Make your table more colorful by adding one bright color to your rustic, harvest color theme. In this example from House Beautiful, a hot pink accent is used all throughout the décor.

If you’re looking for a table runner, check out these three fall-inspired ones from Bed Bath and Beyond. All of them would look great layered with your colorful centerpieces and rustic-inspired serving dishes.

Now that you’ve got inspiration for your thanksgiving dinner party décor, it’s time to think about all the yummy food you’ll serve.

Fall’s Most Versatile Fashion Item: The Black Ankle Bootie

Wouldn’t it be great if there were one item in your closet that could transform into the perfect fashion accessory for any event or occasion? Well this season you’re in luck because black ankle booties have made an impression at all your favorite retail stores! An article on Popsugar shows us several ways we can take our black ankle booties from one occasion to the next!

Heading to a fashionable event? Throw on a pair of your highest stiletto booties with a chic cocktail dress, and you’ll rock the show!

Perhaps your plans don’t include a prestigious fashion event; perhaps you’re just heading to a laid-back gathering. There’s a bootie for that too! Try a flat, cutout bootie, like Jeffrey Campbell’s Everly bootie featured below.

If you’re heading to a friend’s party and you’re looking to be the most stylish one there, you can’t go wrong with a pair of black, cowboy-like high heel booties paired with a pair of skinny jeans, a chic blouse, and a leather jacket.

As great as it would be to own five to ten pairs of black booties in a slightly different style, that may not always be an option for us! If you’re looking to buy just one pair that will get you through your multiple occasions, look for a pair that has a two-to-three inch high chunky heel, and an elegant yet simple silver or gold detailing. Look for a simple buckle, a cool zipper, or a hanging chain!

Halloween Costumes that will Make you Nostalgic for your Childhood

Smell that? The wonderful smell of sugar and spice, pumpkin chai, cinnamon vanilla latte (or something like that) is usually the first thing we encounter when we walk through the doors of our favorite coffee shop in October. It’s the smell that reminds us that Halloween is right around the corner. It’s time to carve out our pumpkins, buy those yummy little chocolates we see piled high in the grocery stores, and think up a fabulous costume idea.

First we have to decide on a general theme. Do we want to be scary? Sexy? Funny? Weird? Creative? The choices are endless! Why not try a costume that brings us back to our younger years? An article on Popsugar gives us some great ideas for costumes that will make us nostalgic for our childhood.

First on the list is Mrs. Doubtfire. Put on a white blouse with burnt stains, carry a couple cooking lids, and all the millennials at the party will know exactly who you are!

Are you looking for the perfect group costume? Why not recreate the cast of The Breakfast Club? Let the girly girl be Molly Ringwald’s character and the tough guy can be Bender!

Perhaps you’re looking for something a bit cuter, softer, and furrier? What better way to indulge in your childhood than dress up as your favorite care bear! Pick your favorite color fur, choose your superpower symbol, and you’re ready to go!

Last but not least, we’ve got a costume that’s great for either gender and all you need is some red and white striped clothing and a pair of round black glasses. Make your childhood memories of looking for Waldo come to life by dressing as Waldo from Where’s Waldo this Halloween!

With only a couple of weeks until Halloween, it’s time to start thinking about your costume. If none of these ideas appealed to you can always fall back on the classics such as, a sexy nurse, a black cat, a construction worker, or a referee! Do you already know what you’re going to be this year? Share in the comments!
