Go for Gold this Weekend: Start with your Jewelry

Created with the StyleChat App

By the end of every weekend, there’s usually a pile of clothes on the floor and a stack of jewelry on the dresser.  Yes, you probably know exactly what I mean.  When preparing for fun nights out, a closet can get exponentially messier as you sift through the good, the bad, and the beautiful.

This weekend it’s time to make your life simpler.  Start by picking out your very chic little black dress.  Step 2: Accessorize with gold rings and gold earrings and pull out the purse that matches!

While a little black dress and stilettos are really all you need to look glamorous, adding a touch of pink lipgloss won’t hurt!

To design your own stylish look for the weekend, download the StyleChat app and create looks with items from your closet or online!  Trying to pick out your outfits alone can be frustrating.  Share your looks with friends on the app.  We all know you have great style, but it never hurts to get a friend’s opinion! Style, share, then wear! StyleChat makes looking chic easy!

Happy Friday!

How to Take your Simple Jeans and a Tee Style to the Next Level

There’s something about the sun shining and the warm breeze that makes summer the time to re-evaluate your wardrobe staples, highlighting your favorite basics, your must-have statement pieces, and your summer necessities, like sunglasses and a hat.

Who wants to spend hours getting ready in the morning when the sun is streaming through your windows and everyone is out enjoying the heat?  Not me!  Throwing on jeans and a simple tee is a great alternative to rummaging through your overflowing closet for your wildest showstopper pieces.  Relaxing outside with friends calls for an equally relaxing outfit, with just one small caveat: simple and relaxed clothing is fine, but pairing it with compliment-worthy accessories makes it even better!

It’s all about the eyewear in the Summer!  Bold shades take the attention from your clothing to your face, so why not add a pair of boho-inspired chandelier earrings!

Your feet are in luck as well because this Summer some of the cutest shoes have been flat slip-on sandals or mules!  Check out the StyleChat app to find out where you can buy all the hot items featured in the above look!

Outsidelands 2016: StyleChat Edition

If you’re a San Francisco native, a music lover, a festival lover, a combination of all three, or just the average fun-loving human, you will probably be in attendance at this year’s annual Outsidelands Music Festival from August 5-7.

With a week left until Ranger Dave welcomes us all into his loving lands of camaraderie, the tension is on to string together your funkiest fits.

Most likely, you A) have all of your outfits picked out B) have one or two cool pieces but nothing crazy or C) have a feeling you’ll be sporting your birthday suit during the 3 day extravaganza (it’s legal there).

If you’re an A person, well you’re an A person and you don’t need my help (go you). You B people, I understand your pain. At least you’re not completely lost? Now for all you C’s, listen and listen well. The key to serving looks at OSL is really quite simple; be yourself. That’s it! Fascinating, huh?

The beauty of OSL is that it is in San Francisco–a city built off of acceptance, funk, and freedom to dress however you please. Thus, the uniform for one of the city’s largest events is mirrored from SF’s greatest value:individuality.

With that being said, if you feel the need to drop $1,000 on some sweet ‘fits to feel yourself, do it! If you’re planning to dig into the chasm that is your mother’s closet, DO IT! There are no rules, no expectations, and no real judgments from anyone in the crowds. Take this festival weekend as an opportunity to really let yourself unwind–you know that Ranger Dave wouldn’t want it any other way.

As an OSL attendee, here are some pieces I’ve been scoping out to make me feel like myself all weekend long. OH and the best part about all of these looks: I shopped them all on the StyleChat app. It made my eclectic taste soo much easier to appease!

From top, left to right: Josefina Boyfriend With Destroy in Bright Blue Bell ($129.00), Denim Shift Dress ($19.90), CHLOE CROPPED DENIM JACKET ($695.00), Frasier Sterling Night on the Tiles Choker ($70.00), Flawed Leather Wrap Bolo ($78.00), Anita K Barred for Life Sterling Silver Collar Necklace ($60.00), Nasty Gal Well Versed Off-the-Shoulder Top ($68.00), That’s a Wrap Top ($98.00), Low Tide Off-the-Shoulder Top ($48.00), Moondance Skirt Set ($228.00), Cecile Ankle Boot ($168.00), Gauze Overall Shorts ($17.90), Signature Loafer ($128.00),  Magic Tapestry Boot ($178.00)

Enjoy the festival, folks. Make me (and Ranger Dave) proud.

Summer Travel Packing: The Do’s and Don’ts

It is about 4:30 pm in the office. You are nearing the end of another tedious eight hour day, when suddenly the thought of your upcoming tropical vacation pops into mind. Your focus drifts away from office attire/numbers/emails and towards bikinis/ocean breezes/travel instagram posts. Suddenly, you have all the motivation you need to speed through that last half hour until you are mentally, physically, emotionally off the clock and onto island time.

But of course, before you can fully delve into R&R mode, you must figure out your packing game plan. The thought of a tropical vacation all sounds whimsical and easy until you stand in front of your closet and realize that you actually have no idea how to prepare. Do I take two suitcases–one for toiletries, one for clothes/shoes? Do I go full minimalist and pack a week’s trip into a small carry on? Do I NEED to bring those brand new Alexander Wang booties?

The answers to such concerns are far simpler than any fashionista vacationer would like to believe. When it comes to tropical vacations, the ideal mojo to follow is always less is more (unless you’re a Kardashian) It’s that simple. Well then if this truly is the case, then why is the quest to pack the ideal summer suitcase always so daunting?

To lessen your stresses and ease your inquiring mind, we’ve listed a few essential packing tips to make your experience as light and effortless as possible.

-Pack light. You’re not going to wear the A Wang booties, you’re just not.

-Bring all necessary toiletries. Sunscreen, tanning oil, moisturizer, facial cleanser, spare toilet paper–you name it. Who knows what the supply will be like in your temporary equatorial digs.

-Plan your outfits. Log onto StyleChat and style the perfect bohemian-meets-Beyoncé Hawaii vacay style looks for your entire trip. The more you think ahead, the easier it will be to keep your suitcase below the 50 lb mark.

-Overthink it. If you haven’t worn that banana yellow sundress in over a year, what makes you think you’ll want to wear it on vacation?

-Forget a nice wide-brimmed hat. Those UV rays are only getting more intense; why not protect your skin AND look darn cute doin it?

-Stress. If you forget a thing or two, who cares? You’re packing up to go somewhere to relieve your stress, not add to it. Plus, the resort gift shops aren’t always bad for last minute poolside necessities.
