This week’s outfit of the week goes to a casual look featured on the Cella Jane blog. Becky put together a great winter look with a comfy and warm poncho overtop of a white long sleeve shirt. To get a casual and chic vibe she pairs the poncho with a pair of edgy ripped skinny jeans. Her accessories and shoes take this look to the next level! We love the black knee-high boots paired with the oversized black sunglasses. Her small, grey handbag complements the heather grey poncho perfectly because it’s not too flamboyant.  Looking to step up your street style? Find the Perfect Black Dress for the Holidays

You can never go wrong wearing a little black dress to your holiday parties. However, shopping for a little black dress can be a daunting task when there are so many different styles available. Although there are so many options, we’ve narrowed it down to six common styles to help you figure out which one best suits your taste! There’s the cut-out dress, the simple high-neck with a flare skirt, the spaghetti strap dress, the long-sleeve bodycon, the strapless bodycon, and the halter.

The cut-out dress is for the woman who’s fearless in her fashion choices. On the other end of the spectrum is the simple high-neck dress with a playful flare A-line skirt. A plain black cocktail dress can be dulled up with a fancy chunky necklace or a bold handbag to give it that extra bit of flavor you’re craving!

The spaghetti strap dress is a great option when you want to look sexy but you want a dress that won’t fall down when you’re dancing the night away! The halter dress will also keep you looking sexy on the dance floor. Ready to show off your beautiful shoulders and strong arms? The halter dress will do wonders making your upper body look great!

If you’re looking for more coverage and don’t want to bare it all in the cold weather, there are lots of long-sleeve dresses to choose from this winter. The one in the featured image is great because it incorporates one of the hottest trends this season: the tie-up plunge neckline.

While all of these styles are flattering in their own way, you can never go wrong with the classic strapless bandage dress. This kind of dress will show off your shoulders and accentuate your beautiful curves. Choose the classic strapless bodycon if you want to look effortlessly sexy!

Stay Fashionably Warm this Winter

Don’t let your desire to stay warm this winter hinder your style choices. December is a time to embrace your favorite scarves, strap on those high boots and wrap yourself in as many layers as needed.

Mix up your winter jacket routine with some funky colors, cool patterns, and intriguing silhouettes. Having two jackets in your closet would be ideal. One could be your solid colored neutral jacket like the grey one featured above on the left. This could take you from work to dinner and out with friends on the weekend. It’s neutral so it will go with almost anything! When you’re ready to spice up an outfit, having a second coat that is colorful and patterned will help keep your look fresh and fun!

Next, you should care about what’s underneath the coat. Layers are your best friend in the winter. You want to choose your sweaters wisely. After all, when you step indoors and take off your jacket, your sweater will be the focal point of the look. Choose anything from a sweater with an asymmetrical hemline to one that features a vibrant colorblocked pattern. Choose one with a luxurious fabric. A soft cashmere sweater will keep you warm and comfortable all day long. On those really cold days, wearing a long sweater will have you feeling like you’re still wearing your cozy morning bathrobe.

While your skinny jeans or tights will help keep you warm, an extra layer can never hurt! These black over-the-knee boots will transform any look from casual and basic to stylish and bold, while giving you an extra layer of warmth against your legs.

Now it’s time to put the finishing touch on your look with a warm, chunky scarf. This season we’re seeing everything from solid-colored chunky infinity scarves to multi-colored long scarves. Try choosing one with neutral colors like black or beige so that it won’t clash with the other colors in your ensemble.

Wearing White in Winter

A great Refinery 29 article talks about the pro’s and con’s of wearing white in the winter.  Sure, it probably looks great when you see models wearing it in the magazines, or people wearing it on Instagram, but is it really practical?

Ana Colon, writer for Refinery 29 points out the stress that a spilled coffee or dinner date at an Italian restaurant could cause you when you’re sporting a white outfit.  However, there’s nothing like a great white dress or a pair of white skinny jeans to freshen up your day.  Don’t wait until the spring season to wear your favorite white apparel.

Whether you’re hanging out with friends on the weekend, or going to work, white can enhance your look in so many ways.  In the image featured below Aimee Song rocks a white fringe lace dress.

If you’re more into a fun layered look, try wearing white overtop of a colored bralette with a jacket thrown overtop.

Last but not least, try creating a business casual look by combining a white blouse with a black skirt or a pair of black pants.

If you’re going to experiment with white apparel, have fun adding colored accessories into the mix.  A bold-colored handbag or a chunky necklace can be perfect additions to a white outfit.  Check out the StyleChat app to search for the hottest white garments in stores now.

Hottest Hairstyles for this Winter

Sometimes the best way to refresh your look is to try out a new hairstyle.  Roberta Constantino, writer for swide.com, tells us about some trendy hairstyles that can inspire a new look for this Winter season.

First on the list is the sexy short hair bob.  If you’re tired of your long hair and you want a look that’s more manageable, the short hair bob could be the perfect solution.  Try it with bangs, and if you’re looking for a more glamorous effect, Constantino suggests gelling the bangs back for an ultra-sleek look.

If you’re ready to be a little more daring and change up your look completely, perhaps its time to try out the short boyish haircut.  Constantino mentions that this boyish haircut can give you the opportunity to bring out your femininity in a different way, such as through your makeup choice.

If you love your long hair and you want to know the best way to style it this winter season, it’s all about adding soft volume to your unstructured cut.  Try using a large medium sized curling iron to get the perfect, luscious, and wavy curls.  Another tip is if you tease your hair at the roots you get an extra burst of volume.

Last but not least, if your hair is really long try adding different length layers to make it a bit more intriguing.  My favorite thing about having long hair is experimenting with different styles.  If you’re in an ultra feminine mood, curl your hair and let it hang past your shoulders.

If you want a slick look, straighten your hair to perfection.  If you want a more casual, effortless look you can opt for a high ponytail, a side braid, or a messy bun.  The options are endless when you’ve got long hair.  Try putting on a headband for some extra flair.
