Stay Fashionably Warm this Winter

Don’t let your desire to stay warm this winter hinder your style choices. December is a time to embrace your favorite scarves, strap on those high boots and wrap yourself in as many layers as needed.

Mix up your winter jacket routine with some funky colors, cool patterns, and intriguing silhouettes. Having two jackets in your closet would be ideal. One could be your solid colored neutral jacket like the grey one featured above on the left. This could take you from work to dinner and out with friends on the weekend. It’s neutral so it will go with almost anything! When you’re ready to spice up an outfit, having a second coat that is colorful and patterned will help keep your look fresh and fun!

Next, you should care about what’s underneath the coat. Layers are your best friend in the winter. You want to choose your sweaters wisely. After all, when you step indoors and take off your jacket, your sweater will be the focal point of the look. Choose anything from a sweater with an asymmetrical hemline to one that features a vibrant colorblocked pattern. Choose one with a luxurious fabric. A soft cashmere sweater will keep you warm and comfortable all day long. On those really cold days, wearing a long sweater will have you feeling like you’re still wearing your cozy morning bathrobe.

While your skinny jeans or tights will help keep you warm, an extra layer can never hurt! These black over-the-knee boots will transform any look from casual and basic to stylish and bold, while giving you an extra layer of warmth against your legs.

Now it’s time to put the finishing touch on your look with a warm, chunky scarf. This season we’re seeing everything from solid-colored chunky infinity scarves to multi-colored long scarves. Try choosing one with neutral colors like black or beige so that it won’t clash with the other colors in your ensemble.

Hottest Hairstyles for this Winter

Sometimes the best way to refresh your look is to try out a new hairstyle.  Roberta Constantino, writer for swide.com, tells us about some trendy hairstyles that can inspire a new look for this Winter season.

First on the list is the sexy short hair bob.  If you’re tired of your long hair and you want a look that’s more manageable, the short hair bob could be the perfect solution.  Try it with bangs, and if you’re looking for a more glamorous effect, Constantino suggests gelling the bangs back for an ultra-sleek look.

If you’re ready to be a little more daring and change up your look completely, perhaps its time to try out the short boyish haircut.  Constantino mentions that this boyish haircut can give you the opportunity to bring out your femininity in a different way, such as through your makeup choice.

If you love your long hair and you want to know the best way to style it this winter season, it’s all about adding soft volume to your unstructured cut.  Try using a large medium sized curling iron to get the perfect, luscious, and wavy curls.  Another tip is if you tease your hair at the roots you get an extra burst of volume.

Last but not least, if your hair is really long try adding different length layers to make it a bit more intriguing.  My favorite thing about having long hair is experimenting with different styles.  If you’re in an ultra feminine mood, curl your hair and let it hang past your shoulders.

If you want a slick look, straighten your hair to perfection.  If you want a more casual, effortless look you can opt for a high ponytail, a side braid, or a messy bun.  The options are endless when you’ve got long hair.  Try putting on a headband for some extra flair.

Hit the Slopes in Style with the Trendiest Skiwear this Winter Season

This winter season as you’re swooshing your way down the slopes, ride down in style with skiwear in the hottest colors. Skitotal highlights some new skiwear trends this winter season.

To make a statement, Skitotal suggests wearing bright colors.  Whether it’s a bright orange or an orange-red color, your jacket will be the center of attention.  Try a bright orange coat with faux fur around the collar.  According to Skitotal, people can’t get enough of faux fur collars this season!

If you’re ready to be a bit daring, try wearing a jacket or pair of snow pants that have an animal print. An animal print jacket will be sure to make you stand out as you speed down the hill.

If you’re looking for something a little more subdued, Skitotal suggests opting for a snowsuit in an understated monochrome color.  Wearing an all black snowsuit will make you look slim and trim as you fly down the hill.

If you want to show off your femininity, there’s no better way to do it than with a hot pink jacket.  Try wearing a hot pink coat with black ski pants for an unbeatable combination.   The jacket featured below has the perfect touch of white detailing to create a little bit of intrigue in the look.

How to Revitalize your Winter Wardrobe

With winter on its way, many people will choose to either hibernate indoors or bear the cold in frumpy, bulky sweatshirts that don’t satisfy their desire to feel fashionable.  But have no fear because there’s another option!  Your winter wardrobe doesn’t have to be dull and drab like the grey winter sky.  Margaret Abrams of the College Candy blog gives some great tips on how to keep your winter wardrobe fun and fashionable!

First, add some statement jewelry to your look to make your dull winter clothes come to life!  Try a chunky necklace overtop of your warm sweaters.  Pairing a colorful necklace on top of a neutral-colored sweater can be the perfect way to liven up your look.

Second, Abrams suggests opting for a deconstructed blazer to keep you warm.  If you can’t find a deconstructed blazer, try wearing one that has a bold-color, perhaps blue or pink.  Adding a splash of color to your winter outfit can be the perfect way to make it look less drab. Next, pair your outfit with the perfect pair of booties.  Choose your favorite, whether it’s moto booties or cowboy booties, the options are endless!

Last but not least, arrive at your destination in style with a moto jacket.  Abrams suggests pairing it with a pair of skinny jeans for the ultimate chic look.  I suggest that if you want to wear the moto jacket open but it’s really cold outside, add a scarf around your neck to provide extra warmth.
