Are you tired of wearing the same outfits every day? Do you ever wish you could create a new look without having to revamp your whole wardrobe? Everyone knows when it’s early in the morning and you’re getting ready for school or work, there isn’t always a lot of time to experiment with your outfit. In a Refinery 29 article Alison Ives gives us a few tips on how we can easily take our standard look to the next level by making just a few small adjustments.
Let’s say your style is feminine, classy, and simple. You’d pair a print skirt with a casual top and a pair of pumps. To make the look a bit more modern and stylish, Alison advises switching the pumps for a pair of sneakers and adding a blazer.
Perhaps your style consists of mainly whites, blacks, and greys. You play around with crop tops, leather, and short skirts, but you’re looking for a way to refresh your look. Alison advises adding a pop of color with a textured garment like the green sequined skirt below.
Perhaps your style is more comfortable and sporty chic. You open up your closet and you’re greeted with lots of casual white tops and black pants. You like being able to easily throw a matching outfit together, but now you think it’s time to be a little more playful. Alison advises that you try mixing up garments of different lengths. Try a cropped leather jacket with a long white tunic and your coveted black pants. Wearing items of various lengths is a great way to have fun with a neutral-colored outfit.
Perhaps your style is a little bit crazier; you don’t shy away from bold colors or prints. You know how to create a fun and exciting look, but sometimes that might not be enough. To get out of your style rut, Alison advises going all out in prints. Don’t just settle with a printed skirt. Add a print top or a fun pair of printed socks. Try bringing out one of the colors in a print by matching it with a solid colored outerwear piece.
The next time you’re staring at your closet wishing you could get out of your style rut, just remember that it only takes minor changes to update your outfit. What’s your favorite way to keep your look interesting?
