Although we are still ripe in the fall season, it is never too early to be excited about the wonders of Spring. Crisp air, blooming flowers, newborn children, vibrant sun–just the thought of it brings promise of revitalization. Of all the wonders, the most wonderful is of course New York Fashion Week. Fresh fashion, clean ideas, new inspiration–sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?
Whether you are sitting front row or simply just scrolling through the headlines on your preferred social media site, you have to give some fraction of a damn for this special week of the fashion calendar year. You just have to. Not only does this week reveal some of fashion’s greatest revelations, but it also reignites the burning passion for creation within so many of us.
It is currently day 5 of 7; and yet, there are an unreal number of unconventional looks to comment on. This year, fashion’s elitists have served up some of the most whimsically outlandish looks yet. The envelope has been pushed, the maximum surpassed, expectations met beyond compare–to say the least, the proceeding year in fashion will be one to remember.
I’ve listed some of the most eccentric looks of NYFW thus far. Hold onto your hats people and prepare for a real visual treat.
#1: Oscar De La Renta
Are you really surprised? Oscar never ever disappoints. Where would you sport this dazzling look? Everywhere? Yeah, me too.
#2: Proenza Schouler
This look screams “take me out to the park but make sure there are camera men.” A pattern worn to be noticed.
While vaguely reminiscent of my sheer apartment curtains, the delicate uniqueness of this dress is unparalleled.
#4: Carolina Herrera
Why not throw a midi striped top with an oversized tulle skirt? Show me the flaw. It just works.
#5: Diane Von Furstenberg
Pretty breathtaking if you ask me. Upon first sight, do you think about a crisp set of 5 star hotel white linens? No? Just me? Well alright…
As uncomfortable as it does appear, you have to admit that this look would turn heads on your commute to work.
#7: Prabal Gurung
Does it or does it not look like the model is floating through a silky pool of Pepto Bismol? I need this look and I need it now.
#8: Adam Selman
For all you mermaid dreamers out there…come on how can are you not drooling over the possibilities of this little number?
A glorious mix of eclectic patterns, colors, and shape; this look is one to cop.
#10: Alexander Wang
Perhaps the most unconventional surprise of the week thus far–Alexander Wang has teamed up with Adidas for a unisex collection of sporty fabulousness. As always, he has gone above and beyond to make his splash during NYFW a large one.
Well folks, there you have it. Just a few of the many many wonderfully peculiar statements made this year. Until next year, NYFW, I love ya.

BCBG Max Azria’s Spring 2015 collection brought elegance and a touch of bohemian to the runway at New York Fashion Week. With Fall colors all around us now, it was a breath of fresh air to see what the Spring season has in store for us. The collection boasts flowing silhouettes in white or pastel colors, such as light pink and baby blue.
In an article on nola.com, The Associated Press highlights a few looks that were the most memorable, including a silk wrap dress with a quilted belt and the last look of the show, which was a silk V-neck long and flowing dress in a pastel rose color.
I have to agree, that although I enjoyed each piece in the collection, the last one stood out the most! The rose pink dress inspires a look of effortless beauty and sophisticated femininity with just a touch of bohemian.
Hair and makeup on the models was simple and natural, which is perfectly fitting for a collection with a bohemian edge. BCBG Max Azria’s collection shows us how to be carefree and wildly feminine in our fashion and makeup choices.
Pastel colors, gorgeous silhouettes, and feminine fabrics were not the only aspects of the runway show that were noteworthy. The nola.com article mentions the twist at BCBG’s runway show: guests could buy the looks right from their seat by “liking” a photo on Instagram and then following the link that was emailed to them showing them where they can buy the looks!
The brand definitely brought convenience and accessibility to their runway show! For all of you BCBG Max Azria lovers out there who wish you could have been at the show, here’s a way that you can get the look with these pieces available in either Zara or Forever 21 stores now.
Focus on long, flowing silhouettes that let your body be free with no restrictions. Wrap a pastel belt around your waist for some added definition. Even though it’s Fall now, that doesn’t mean you can’t be inspired by the Spring trends, and add some bohemian and pastel-colored pieces into your wardrobe.
So how are you going to incorporate these fresh new styles into your look? Show us on the StyleChat app by creating style boards and sharing them with your friends!
