Didn’t get a chance to watch the 2016 Golden Globe red carpet ceremony? No problem! We’ve got the four hottest fashion trends from the show right here! The dresses on the red carpet were saturated with plunging necklines, sequins, body-hugging silhouettes, and the color white. These four trends were overwhelmingly the hottest styles taking over the red carpet.
Sophia Bush looked classically chic and elegant in an all-black gown and plunging neckline.
Olivia Wilde was by far one of the best dressed that night. Her wine-colored dress combined sequins, a body-hugging silhouette, and a plunging V-neckline to create a very sexy and sophisticated look!
Last but not least, Alicia Vikander wore a white Louis Vuitton dress that was simply elegant and refreshing.
Last night your favorite country stars rocked the red carpet at the 49th Annual Country Music Awards in Nashville. From plunging necklines to sexy cutouts and structured dresses, the female song artists turned up the heat on the red carpet.
The co-host of the show, Carrie Underwood, looked beautiful in a bright orange gown with a train. While the peplum may not have been the most flattering when paired with a train, the plunging V-neckline made this dress a real winner! Not everyone can pull off orange from head to toe, but Underwood, with her beautiful long blonde hair, made this color look fabulously chic.
Hannah Davis’ big, sparkling wedding ring wasn’t the only thing that shined last night. Her cream dress with a revealing neckline and high leg slit was one of the best gowns that night! That soft, pastel color worked devilishly well with her tanned skin and dark hair.
Miranda Lambert combined sexy and fun with a sophisticated black dress and her playful blonde and pink hair. Even with the funky hairdo, Lambert’s look was definitely chic.
The best dress by far was the one worn by Jennifer Nettles. The skirt portion hugged her curves so beautifully from the waist to the knees before gently falling to the floor in a slight flare. The top cutout made the dress sexy and adventurous. If the silhouette wasn’t enough to grab your attention, the soft pastel pink color surely should! Nettles looked like a modern sophisticated princess. We can only hope that designers and product developers take note of this dress, and we see similar styles in store this spring!
Perhaps you’re already starting to think about the dresses you’ll wear this holiday season. Hopefully these lovely styles will be a source of inspiration. Will you dress bright and bold like Underwood, soft and feminine like Davis, classic and chic like Lambert, or ultra-feminine like Nettles? Some people look forward to award shows for the awards, some on the other hand, look forward to them because of the red carpet fashion! While many stars played their dress choice safe, others took risks with crazy patterns, wild textures, and fun silhouettes. Cosmopolitan.com counts down some of the best and most exciting looks seen at the Emmys this year.
Kerry Washington looked powerful and chic in her silver Marc Jacobs dress. The mix of sheer with sequins gives this dress a playful texture. The low V-neck combined with the accentuated shoulders and hemline added the perfect touch of glam to her look. She didn’t need any other accessory to complete her ensemble; the dress was stunning enough on its own!
Next on our list of best-dressed women at the Emmy’s is Ellie Kemper. Her floor-length gown stood out with a beautiful multi-colored pattern. While not everyone can pull off a busy-patterned dress from head to toe, Ellie showed us that it is possible! The gathering of darker colors at the bottom of the gown made this dress even more intriguing and aesthetically pleasing!
What I love to see most on the red carpet is a dress that breaks the norm! Joanna Newsom pulled this off in a daring and beautiful structured pink strapless gown. The mix of smooth and pleated textures, as well as the fun, feminine design in the front, surely made me stop and stare! She certainly got major points for wearing such an original dress!
Last but not least, Jaimie Alexander looked magnificently futuristic in this multicolored long-sleeve floor-length gown. While the cut and silhouette are very simple, the dress gets its flavor from the repetitive pattern of bold colors from head to toe.
After seeing these red carpet looks, we can guess that sequined textures, bold patterns, and simple silhouettes will be all the rage next season. These wild looks remind us that taking fashion risks can lead to huge success when done right!
This past weekend we saw some of the most stunning dresses hit the red carpet at the annual Met Gala, which is a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It is a night when Hollywood’s A-list stars come together to celebrate fashion at the grand opening of the Institute’s fashion exhibit. In a Forbes article, Vanna Le highlights the hottest looks and two of the main color trends from the night: red and gold.
Anna Wintour, Reese Witherspoon, Amal Clooney, and Vanessa Hudgens are just a few of the celebrities that looked dazzling in red. Amal Clooney’s Maison Margiela gown was by far a favorite! The layers and layers of over-the-top ruffles made her look as if she was floating across the red carpet.
Reese Witherspoon took the opposite approach with a very smooth and sleek red strapless dress with sky-high slits in the front. She wore the most stunning diamond collar necklace and ravishing red satin sandals. Reese turned to a classic and elegant red look, and made it modern and sexy.
Kate Hudson stole the limelight in a sparkling, body-hugging Michael Kors gown. Her hair was tied back in an elegant bun, letting all the attention stay focused on the dress. The small yet elegant train made the gown even more glamorous!
Last but not least, Rihanna looked absolutely royal in a cape gown designed by Guo Pei. The train was so long she almost needed the red carpet to herself! The embroidered satin dress with fur trims combined with her golden headpiece was certainly enough to capture everyone’s attention.
The Met Gala is the perfect occasion to bring out the most over-the-top gowns. While some stars went for a classic glamorous look, others were bold and daring! Which gown was your favorite?
