Paris Fashion Week: the most hectic, inspiring, eventful period on every fashion elitist’s calendar. This is not to say that I am a fashion elitist (sigh) though, I do have the pleasure of observing from a far–across the world, far–and gawking in silent jealousy.
Not only is #pfw a chance for top designers to grab the attention of fashion folk everywhere, but it is also a time to make a statement. People across the world are watching as these collections are displayed, and trust me, people are taking note. There are always a select few who understand this notion, and take full advantage of the peak in onlookers. Below I’ve included two of the most interesting statements made on the runway this week.
Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma
Rihanna certainly did not disappoint with her gorgeous debut of silk fans and light florals. A wonderful medley of a collection intermixed with delicate edginess–Fenty x Puma SS ’17 is different in that it encapsulates both looks in a marvelously discrete way.
Nobody can stop talking about the Dio(r)evolution that was observed on the runway this past week. In bold letters, the phrase “We should all be feminists” stood out beautifully among a stage of black, white, and tulle. During a time when the push for gender equality is bigger than ever, this statement was amazing and is sure to cause a ripple effect in the fashion world.

Throw on a graphic sweatshirt over a collared button down for a comfy yet clean and crisp look. A great go-to for layering is the classic leather jacket! Finish off the look with a blanket scarf for those blustery February mornings.
Looking for a little style inspiration? The 2015 Spring/Summer Milan fashion week impressed us with bold colors, feminine designs, sleek cutouts, and slinky silhouettes. Fashionista.com points out some of the hottest trends we saw that week. First, we took a ride on the softer side with designers from Roberto Cavalli to Gucci, featuring sheer ruffled dresses in feminine pastel colors.
The Milan runway shows featured colors all over the spectrum: from soft and pastel to dark and bold. Green was a standout color being featured by many designers including Prada, Marni, and more. From army matte greens to shiny metallic aqua greens, this color was all over the runways in fun and refreshing ways!
Many of the runway shows turned up the heat with dresses and blazers featuring side-midriff cutouts. While we’ve seen cutouts a lot in the past couple of years, these outfits featured cutouts in a whole new way, making us rethink our standard blazers.
Last but not least, the runways featured looks with shimmering metallic silver, sometimes from head to toe! While I couldn’t imagine sporting a pair of shiny silver stretch pants, the silver dresses would be a cool, sexy alternative to your typical little black dress look.
Hopefully these four hot trends will give you some inspiration to try wearing something new, something bold, or something refreshing! What was your favorite trend from the Spring/Summer Milan fashion week?
Each person held up a sign with the price of their outfit and flashed it to the photographer, who took a photo of them. It’s amazing to see the vast differences in price. The variety of outfits included ones that were borrowed, DIY, less than a hundred dollars, or as high as thousands of dollars.
No matter how much you spend on fashion, your style is what truly matters. Be confident in the clothes you wear because confidence is key, not the price of a garment.
