We’ve already seen the invention of handbags that can charge certain devices. This trend is definitely one that could make life a lot easier if successful.

Designer, Amy Winters, has experimented with clothing that changes in your environment. For example, she uses holographic leather that illuminates when the volume increases. She has also created a bathing suit that reacts to light. Our streets would be a lot more colorful and festive if everyone was wearing this exciting new wearable technology!

The next wearable trend to keep your eye on would be particularly helpful for bicycle enthusiasts. A DIY electronics company called Adafruit, has created a helmet that has a built-in navigational system. The helmet has lights that flash on the right or left to let the biker know which direction to turn so that you don’t have to be looking at your smart phone to know where to go. We all know biking while using a smart phone could be hazardous; this invention would help bikers keep their smart phones out of their hands while biking.

This Season’s Hottest Jewelry Trends

This season’s jewelry trends take bracelets, rings, and earrings to the next level. InStyle.com shows us the new trends taking over this season. First they show us that the bracelet has migrated up the arm with the new growing popularity of arm cuffs. Selena Gomez adds some flavor to her look with a multi-band gold arm cuff. Try out this new trend when you’re wearing your favorite summer sleeveless dresses.

If the arm cuff isn’t funky enough for you, perhaps you’ll like this next trend: ear cuffs. Ear cuffs give the impression that you have multiple ear piercings, without actually needing to have your ears pierced. The ear cuff can sit mainly behind your ear or clip on to the front and back. This spring it’s time to set your earring studs aside and throw on your favorite pair of ear cuffs instead.

Nasty Gal features a great midi-ring set that lets you choose how many midi-rings you want to wear and on what fingers. This let’s you keep your look fun and fresh as you play around with the combination of your midi rings. Try pairing midis with regular rings if you’re looking for a more edgy look.

How to Style your Look for Exam Day

If you’re a student, you know what it’s like to dread exam day. Spring is a time when the weather gets warmer and the fashion gets lighter and brighter.

The presence of spring also reminds us of our impending exams. Although it’s often natural to let your fashion choices suffer and take a back seat to your studies, Leah Dagg on hercampus.com gives us some tips on how to dress for an exam so that you can look cute while still staying focused.

First she advises that you pin your hair up.  When you’re writing exams, you don’t want to have to worry about your hair falling in your face.  Pinning your hair up in a messy bun is a great way to look stylish while still being comfortable for your exam.

While Leah notes how tempting it is to wear sweatpants to an exam, she also points out that it’s important to feel confident on exam day.  Let this confidence show by wearing your favorite cute skinny pants with a comfy tee and a touch of makeup.  A little lip-gloss and mascara can go a long way!

Accessorizing can be an important part of your exam day outfit.  Leah advises not wearing clunky bracelets because they can make noise while you’re writing and therefore be a distraction to you and your fellow classmates. Chunky rings may also slow down your writing.  So, stick to a necklace or a pair of earrings.  After all, if you’re wearing a plain comfy tee, a cute chunky necklace may be the perfect way to add some style to your look!

Another great piece of style advice is to layer your clothing.  You want all your focus to be on your exam, and not on whether you’re too hot or cold.  Plan for all types of indoor conditions because you never know whether they’ll have the heat or air conditioner on high.

Last but not least, don’t forget to wear your lucky charms!  I had an oversized navy and white plaid button-down shirt that I wore to almost every one of my exams in university.  Call me superstitious, but sometimes it’s best to wear something that will comfort you during this stressful time.  Once you’ve gotten your perfect exam look, you’re one step closer to a perfect exam!

Handbag Trends for Winter 2015

This Winter season the selection of handbags is fresh, fun, and diverse.  Rima Kh, from fashionisers.com lists the top trends in handbags this season.

Rima mentions that although this season we’ve seen more small and medium sized bags, there are still big bags to choose from in certain designer collections like Ralph Lauren or Moschino.  Messenger bags and shoulder bags were a hit on the runways of some of the top designers, including Marc Jacobs, Versace, and Christian Dior.  These bags are great because their super comfortable and it’s so much more convenient to wear a purse over your shoulders.

If you prefer to hold your handbags by hand instead, your in luck because satchels made a statement this season in beautiful prints and fabrics.  Whether you want snakeskin in a bold color, or an intricate printed design, there’s lots to choose from this season in satchels.

If you’re looking for more of a professional bag to suit your professional look, opt for one of the many briefcase bags we’ve seen this season.  You can find these bags from designers like Roberto Cavalli, Hugo Boss, and Dolce & Gabbana.

Perhaps you want a handbag that is a bit crazier.  Opt for a bag in a neon color.  Like Rima points out, if the sun isn’t shining during the cold, winter days, these bags will give you a little bit of light in your life!  Just be careful matching these bright bags with your outfit.  Try pairing them with a neutral-colored outfit so that your outfit doesn’t become too distracting.

Next on the list for handbag trends this season are bags with a fringe.  If you’re going for that slightly rugged, Western vibe these bags are the perfect fit.

Last but not least, handbags with chains are making quite a splash this season.  My personal favorites are designed by Stella McCartney.  With a myriad of styles, colors, and sizes to suit any taste, these handbags are the perfect choice this season.
