How to Incorporate your Basic Wardrobe Pieces into a Halloween Costume

It’s that time of year again, when trying to figure out what to wear for Halloween starts being a prevalent question in your mind. Instead of spending money on a costume that you’ll probably never wear again, Ashley Massis from the Huffington Post, gives suggestions on how you can turn your everyday essential pieces into a great costume!

First she suggests trying out a pair of knee-high socks.  Massis points out that they could be used for a schoolgirl, nurse, nerd, or athletic costume.  The possibilities are endless! Most importantly, when you’re out at night and it’s cold, you’ll be happy to have a high pair of socks to keep your legs warm.  If you want to be a bit more dangerous, try a pair of thigh-high socks!

The second wardrobe staple to consider is a black legging.  Massis suggests pairing these leggings with a black shirt and cat ears to be a cat or make the outfit a bit sexier and be Sandy from Grease.  I think adding a touch of leather to this ensemble would help kick it up a notch!  Try a black leather jacket or a pair of black leather leggings.

For that sexy librarian look, try incorporating a white button-down blouse into your outfit.  Massis suggests that a white button-down could work for an old-school Britney Spears costume.

If you want your costume to be a blast from the past, try using your aviator sunglasses to create a 1970’s look.  Massis suggests pairing the sunglasses with some fringe and tie-dye.  The hippie costume is a classic!

If you’re still not set on any of those ideas, try thinking of all the possible costumes that could come from wearing jeans.  If you pair the jeans with a plaid top and a cowboy hat you could be a farmer or a lumberjack.
